His books on rhetoric, poetics and, most importantly, his trilogy on linguistics: Arte grammatica libri septem (1635), Vitiis sermonis et glossematis Latino-barbaris libri quatuor (1645) and the Etymologicon linguae Latinae, published  after his death in 1662. And for being regent of the Leiden Regens collegii.
