Teaching skills course for PhDs and student assistants

From August 2011, PhDs and student assistants can follow a starters’course to acquire basic didactic skills. The aim of the course is to provide skills in:

  • developing learning goals for students

  • choosing the most relevant content and clearest methodology

  • specific teaching skills.


The Executive Board of the University has instructed the school of teaching, ICLON, to develop a track to prepare PhDs and student assistants to improve their teaching skills. ICLON has developed this course as a blended learning track which consists of:

  • an interactive Blackboard module (10 hours)

  • a half-day of practice and feedback (4 hours)

  • e-coaching for course attendants who require more tips and hints after being confronted with real-life feedback during their teaching practice (1 hour)
