Shilin

Shilin is a twice-yearly publication and features research done by students of Chinese Studies at Leiden University. Without disciplinary constraints, Shilin publishes papers written in Dutch and English, hoping to contribute to debates and discussions within the student body and the community at large. At the present Shilin focuses on research done by students from Chinese Studies at Leiden University, but we hope to include papers from students of Japanese Studies and Korean Studies in future issues as well. Shilin is published independently and all Shilin boardmembers are co-editors in their respective fields of research.

In the Research MA in Asian Studies, you may focus on a specific region, choosing between China, Japan, Korea, South Asia or Southeast Asia. MEARC Modern East Asia Research Centre

The Modern East Asia Research Centre at Leiden University is a research centre focussing on modern East Asian politics, international relations, economy, development, philosophy, and law. MEARC also offers training and consultancy services to business, policy makers and provides background info to the media.

Confucius Institute

The Confucius Institute at The Hague was jointly founded by Leiden University and Shandong University of China in October 20, 2006. It designs a wide range of language and culture courses, and organizes various cultural activities and academic exchanges.

Chinese-Indonesian Heritage Centre

The Chinese-Indonesian Heritage Centre  (CIHC) was launched on 1 June 2012. With this joint initiative the Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies (KITLV) aims to collect, safeguard and disclose on the Internet ageing photographs, films, letters and other materials from Chinese families from Indonesia.
